Frequently Asked Questions
Can I have my children with me during my appointment?
Of course, your children are welcome to accompany you. Please note, however, that distractions in the environment may affect the quality of the treatment and its results.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your condition, its severity, and how your body responds to treatment. Some people notice improvement after one session, while others benefit from ongoing care.
Does osteopathic treatment hurt?
Treatment is usually gentle and comfortable. Some techniques may cause mild discomfort, but they should not be painful. Any post-treatment soreness is typically temporary.
How do I reschedule or cancel an apointment?
To reschedule or cancel an appointment, please refer to your confirmation email, where you will find the option to reschedule or cancel your appointment.
How does osteopathy work?
Osteopathic manual practitioners use gentle manual techniques to improve mobility, reduce tension, enhance circulation, and support the body’s natural healing processes.
What should I wear for my session?
Clients are encouraged to wear comfortable, flexible clothing that permits unrestricted movement. Skirts, jeans, and tight or non-stretch garments should be avoided.
What type of payement do you accept?
We prefer payment by cash or e-transfer; however, we also accept debit and credit cards (Visa and Mastercard).
What is osteopathy?
That is a very complex question! Many practitioner are still trying to figure this one out :P but osteopathy is a hands-on healthcare approach that focuses on the relationship between the body’s structure and its ability to function and heal itself.
Do I need a referral to see an osteopathic manual practitioner?
No referral is needed. You can book an appointment directly with an osteopathic manual practitioner. Medical clearance may be required in some cases.
My practitioner used a particular technique during my session that I really benefited from. Would it be appropriate to ask my partner to try something similar?
Please do not attempt to replicate these techniques at home. When a practitioner performs a technique, it is done for a very specific reason, following a carefully considered sequence and with a precise therapeutic purpose. Attempting to reproduce these techniques without proper training may be unsafe and could result in harm.
Do you offer direct billing?
Yes, we offer direct billing with most insurance companies. Please ensure that your plan includes coverage for osteopathy.
We would be happy to set up direct billing during your initial appointment. However, if we encounter an issue that prevents us from completing the setup, we will not spend excessive time troubleshooting during your appointment. In that case, payment will be required at the time of the visit, and a receipt will be provided so you can submit it to your insurance provider for reimbursement.
Is treatment safe during pregnancy?
Yes, osteopathic treatment is safe and effective during pregnancy, starting in the second trimester, after 12 weeks.
